A popular pastor in South Africa, Alfred Ndlovu, took the temptation of competing with God too far when he decided to embark on a dry fasting that would break the 40 days and 40 nights Jesus Christ underwent, when he died after just 30 days into the programme.
Buzz South Africa reports that Ndlovu had boasted to his members that he would break the widely acclaimed record Christ held for the longest fasting and retired to a mountain to stay for the record breaking event but after just one month, he was found dead.
It was reported that Ndlovu left his family on June 17, 2016, to the prayer mountain to commence the dry run but on July 17, he was found dead by a hunter who then reported the find to the police who notified the deceased's family and church members.
A church member, while narrating the death of Pastor Ndlovu, said:
"He was a very spiritual man. It's unfortunate he had to die this way. After a month, we got the sad news of his death. Pastor was a healthy and religious old man who did not even look his age."
