"Even
with these ups and downs, my sense of humour stands firm"

This is the most trying times
for Nigerians. It will take guts to see people smiling except you have a
backup; even those with backups are ‘biting their nails’. The economic
recession is really hitting on the young, old, rich and poor.
Salaries cut down, investment
suffers,
careful spending, companies close up, unemployment increase, national
debts rises, insufficient income, production slows down and in turn prices go
up and DEPRESSION are the impacts of this recession.
In fact during recession,
many firms are forced to sell their products at give-away prices and suffer
from losses as a result. There is a real war going on, it will only take a deaf
and blind mind to be unaware. Even clerics preach mostly messages of faith,
hope and upliftment. Every church I have visited this period has been constant
with this message to inspire their congregation.
The battle between the producers
and consumers are intense. Both suffer during these hard times. They need each
other. When consumers do not have the purchasing power, then production
suffers. Less production means less profit for producers who will find it
difficult to run their business outfits.
The truth is this, whether
there is recession or not, some people have resolved in their hearts that they
are not going to live by the dictation of the economy. They just do one thing;
they choose to stay happy.
A sense of humor can be your
greatest asset this season. It is a skill that can help you interact easily
with others, improve your health, and even help diffuse this difficult times. What
you don’t understand is that you don't have to be funny to have a sense of humor;
you just have to learn to see the lighter side of things and the brighter side
of life.
At this period, a sense of
humor may reduce stress and your anxiety, as well as increase coping abilities,
increase your mood and creativity, help you build happy relationships with
others and improve your self-esteem. You don’t have to be worn out this period.
This phase will pass definitely; I have no doubt that Nigeria will become great
if we don’t give up.
Dear
friend, always remember that ‘when the world is saying there is a casting down,
the people of God will be saying there is a lifting up’. It will get better
soon. #HopeIsHere #JPTalksLive
