In my opinion, no one should suffer much penury no matter how difficult it may pose to be. The human body is strong and perfectly made as it is on a realistic observation, a fragile machine that needs maintenance to keep it up and running. The absent of this maintenance is the beginning of deterioration and a possible collapse of the entire system. Like the human body, the society needs the effective functioning of each part to smoothly run.
The society now called Nigeria, prior to colonialism was a collection of different independent societies with unique ways of doing things-religion, culture and belief. One cannot accurately say if the contact with foreign counterparts did any harm or good to these collection of societies; one face however remains that after the contact, the ways and life of these societies has never been the same. The now Nigeria society can be likened to a JUNGLE.
The term ‘Jungle’ means different things to different people; to some, an habitation of hostility, deprivation and agony. To others, it is a theatre that harbours different behaviours; to some,it is an habitation of preys and predators alike. The figurative comparison of Nigeria to a Jungle is a collection of the various above insights into a unified whole.

Nigeria is a country led by the blind into more blindness; those that can see are in doubt of their sights. The knowledge of their sight serves as a sickness in itself, what really is the use of knowledge when it cannot serve the betterment of a deteriorating condition.Except utilized, the knowledge becomes a disease to the holder as he becomes frustrated in his knowledge. Many will say that the cause of Nigeria’s problem is the leadership.Truly, there is a point in that; I mean we have men who take the oath of leadership only to turn against their pledges few weeks into office. The worst part of it is that it has become a trend as younger generations have adopted the practice. What a pity!
One question however is? Is leadership the only cause of the problems that Nigeria is facing? Be it through omission or commission, we the citizens are major contributors to the failure experienced in this country. We are scared to fight for what we believe in. Until we take our stand on what is right,we may never be liberated. So long as we follow without questioning, Nigeria as a ‘giant’ will continue to experience poor living standards.
Citizenship in the United States doesn’t change who you are. The best option to greener pastures is making the pastures in our motherland green. There is a Prophecy! “Despite all odds,Nigeria will survive.”
